FFA announces awards, new officers PDF Print E-mail

Officer installation, award presentation and parent recognition made up the annual FFA achievement ceremony Monday night, May 21 at Holyoke JR/SR High.

Following a meal shared by members and parents, FFA chapter officers and advisor Troy Mayfield presented the awards.

Freshman Nick Ortner was named this year’s Star Greenhand for the Holyoke chapter.

Earning the FFA Greenhand Degree were Nathan Miles, Stefani Razo, TJ Gertner, Kody Timm and Nick Ortner.

This year’s Star Chapter Farmer Award was presented to sophomore Makayla Spitz.

Carlos Diaz, Kelsey Kramer, Jacinda Krueger, Tanner Smith, Andrew Kent, Wyatt Bishop, Logan Tharp, Elissa Baker and Makayla Spitz all earned the FFA Chapter Degree.

Appreciation was noted for those who have supported the chapter this year. Honorary membership was awarded to senior parents including Dan and Shonna Kafka, parents of Caleb Kafka; Pat and Heidi Spitz, parents of Coleton Spitz; Damon and Pam Struckmeyer, parents of Mariah Struckmeyer; and John and Jill Baumgartner, parents of Reid Baumgartner.

Monday’s ceremonies included officer installation for the 2012-13 school year. Incoming officers are Makayla Spitz, president; Kelsey Kramer, vice president; Tanner Smith, secretary; Alexis Lenhart, treasurer; Kody Timm, reporter; Nick Ortner, sentinel; and Elissa Baker, Stefani Razo, Carlos Diaz and Wyatt Bishop, executive committee members.
