|Peerless Theatre to host free DVD series this summer|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Both old movie favorites and recently released titles are coming to life again on the big screen this summer during the Peerless Theatre’s free DVD movie series.
Adding to the community’s summer entertainment options, the DVD series is a great way for community members to enjoy some great movies at no cost. Organizers said the series will give people something to do and a reason to stay in Holyoke for their entertainment.
The Monday Matinee Series will include a double feature of movies rated G or PG which are geared toward kids. A new set of movies will play at 2 p.m. each Monday.
Starting at 9 p.m. each Wednesday, the Director’s Choice Series will feature mostly action movies geared toward men including some director’s cuts and extended versions.
The Thursday Free DVD Series is a great option for date night. A double feature of guy/gal movies (or one really long movie) will begin at 7 p.m. each Thursday.
Summer movie schedules can be found at the DVD series link on the Peerless website at www.thepeerlesstheatre.com. Printable color brochures for each of the Monday, Wednesday and Thursday series will also be available on the website or at the Peerless.
In addition to the theater, the Peerless youth gym and rec room will also be open for use whenever the DVD series or regular movies are being played.
Senior Movies to continue
The Peerless has also been offering Senior Movies, which will continue through the summer. Anyone age 60 and older and their primary caregivers are invited to view a movie at the Peerless free of charge every third Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. Many of the movies are shown by request and are almost always the classics from the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s.
