|Ben Martinez, Ryan Stark to attend Boys State in June|

HHS juniors Ben Martinez and Ryan Stark were selected by American Legion Post #90 in Holyoke to attend Colorado Boys State June 3-9 at CSU-Pueblo.
Boys State delegates join hundreds of other juniors from high schools throughout the state of Colorado who have demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service to their schools.
Delegates to Boys State organize cities and counties and run their own governments. They learn lessons in duty, responsibility, honor, government, privilege, dignity and character.

Martinez is the son of Benjamin and Graciela Martinez. He has been named to the superintendent’s honor roll every semester of his high school career and is a member of National Honor Society.
Martinez has had a successful FCCLA career. He is serving as president for the chapter for 2012-13, earned three gold medals at the state level and two at the national level.
He is serving as vice president of the local FBLA chapter and earned first- and fifth-place medals at the state level.
He is a member of Book Club, Student Council, is an FCA leader, LITE Group member, Cadenza Club member and is in Jazz Band.
Martinez has also played football for three years and lettered two. He has lettered all three years he has wrestled and has also played baseball for two years.
Stark is the son of Mike and Kandi Stark. He was named to the superintendent’s honor roll his junior year.
He has been involved in FBLA and earned 10th place for a Movie Maker project.
Stark has been involved with the FBLA Leaving a Legacy project and helped in the volleyball concessions stand.
