Dandelion Daze promises to be an exciting event filled with cars, games, sales, food and lots of fun.
The 12th annual Dandelion Daze car show, sponsored by the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce, begins Friday and runs throughout Saturday afternoon, June 16.
Friday night, June 15, an Ice Cream Sundae Local Poker Run will begin at 5:30 p.m. Car and bike registration and a social hour will begin at 6 p.m. Interested parties can catch the stock car races at Phillips County Raceway beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Activities begin Saturday with city wide garage sales at 7 a.m. Locations of the garage sales will be available at the registration table.
Registration for the car show will take place from 8-11 a.m. on the Phillips County Courthouse lawn.
From 9 a.m.-3 p.m. many activities will be offered at the courthouse, including the Show & Shine, vendors, food, crafts and activities for kids, sponsored by the Girl Scouts. Throughout the day, merchant sales will also be offered in downtown Holyoke.
On the south side of the courthouse, RC gas powered car races will be from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Be sure to fuel up at the Chamber luncheon on the courthouse lawn from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Cruise on over to the Phillips County Historical Museum between 2-4:30 p.m. and check out the transportation area featuring a Hupmobile, Model T and more.
Throughout the day, a bicycle safety rodeo will be held at the courthouse grounds. Those interested are encouraged to take their bikes and helmets to participate. Some helmets will be given away. Those with helmets that no longer fit are encouraged to take them for a potential exchange for one that fits.
The car show awards presentation will be at 2 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. Awards will be given for the top 15 cars, the top gun and people’s choice.
The day will conclude with the Grease Lightning Parade following the car show awards. Car owners will drive from downtown Holyoke to the Regent Park/Carriage House parking lot to flaunt their hot rods.
