Hundred Hole Hike eclipses $200K PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Nine golfers braved the 107-degree weather and strong winds Monday, June 25 during the Hundred Hole Hike held at Ballyneal Golf Club southeast of Holyoke to help raise over $200,000 in pledges. Participating golfers are pictured Sunday night, from left, front row, Wyatt Halliday, Brian Carruthers and John Penny; and back row, Rob Rigg, Doug Wright, Mitch Ehly, Jim Colton, John Miller and Rob Miller.

Each golfer played to raise money for a charity or institution of his choice. The HHH is inspired by the success of last year’s Ben Cox 155 where Colton managed to play 155 holes and raise more than $110,000 for Cox—a Ballyneal caddie who was injured in a March 2011 skiing accident. Colton matched his 155-hole mark again this year while each of the eight other golfers played more than 100 holes. More information on the HHH and photos of Ben Cox, who was scheduled to play nine holes of golf with his dad Tuesday, June 26 will appear in next week’s issue of the Enterprise.   —Photo courtesy of Sue Drinker
