Not quite three months ago, a large tree toppled over just north of the Holyoke School District Administration Building due to high winds. It seems the tree tipper returned this past weekend. When the sun rose Sunday morning, July 8, another uprooted tree was found on the same grounds—again toppled by apparent high winds. This time a smaller tree fell over east of the admin building, on the south side of the Holyoke JR/SR High School, near the Vo-ag Department. It appeared there was no damage done to the building. The two trees join another tree that “exploded” in 1992 on the school grounds north of the admin building. A large pine tree was blown to bits after being directly struck by a bolt of lightning in July—20 years ago. —Enterprise photo Holyoke Enterprise July 12, 2012 |
