School set to have late start every Friday
A change to this year’s school schedule, Re-1J schools will have 9 a.m. late starts every Friday throughout the school year for staff meetings.
Appraisal Day at museum Sun.
Community members are invited to have their treasures appraised Sunday, Aug. 26 at Phillips County Museum from 1-4 p.m. Appraisals will be done by Lloyd Michael.
HVFD called three times
Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department was called three times over the last week. Saturday, Aug. 18 they were called to a grass fire six miles west and three and a half south of Holyoke. The fire was started by sparks from some work being done on equipment.
Haxtun and Wages fire departments assisted HVFD at the fire.
Sunday, Aug. 19, firefighters were called to a truck rollover southwest of Holyoke on County Road 35 at 10:45 a.m. No extrication was needed but the silage truck was a complete loss.
Monday, Aug. 20 the whistle blew just after noon, summoning crews to assist Sedgwick County and Venango, Neb. fire departments with a CRP fire near Sedgwick County Roads 8 and 53.
