Fire up the grill for Labor Day

The most popular days for Americans to grill are the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and, of course, Labor Day. So it’s time to celebrate your day off work, bust out the grill and soak up the (unofficial) last day of summer.

A few years ago, a study by Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association found 82 percent of all American households own a grill or smoker, with 89 percent in households with four or more members.

Shish kabobs are a fun way to both entertain guests and utilize the grill on Labor Day. This recipe provides you with some oh-so-tasty meat that you can layer with brightly-colored peppers, mushrooms and potatoes for a great end-of-summer meal.

Shish Kabobs

1/2 cup oil

1/4 cup vinegar

1/2 cup onion

1 teaspoon salt

Dash of pepper

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Up to 2 pounds sirloin

Cut meat in chunks and marinade overnight. (The longer the better!)
Skewer meat and add peppers, mushrooms, potatoes, etc. Grill and enjoy!
