Holyoke area residents are invited to participate in a flag ceremony and prayer service on the 11th anniversary of the Twin Towers terrorist attack Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 a.m. on the front lawn of Bank of Colorado at 133 N. Interocean Ave. The program will begin with a flag ceremony, followed by a prayer service and a program featuring speaker Linda Langelo. Doughnuts and coffee will be served. Gary Krumm, Mary Tomky and Langelo are the planners for this year’s 9/11 program, which is being sponsored by Bank of Colorado, Holyoke Chamber of Commerce and Golden Plains Area Extension. Langelo was in New York during the 9/11 attack in 2001. She was not in the city, but outside of Syracuse, N.Y. She said the purpose of next Tuesday’s event in Holyoke is to bring people together as a community to pray for the peace they have and for continued peace in their lives. “One simple prayer is a selfless act and may even save someone’s life,” said Langelo. The program will serve as a tribute to the men, women and children killed in the tragic attack 11 years ago. Holyoke Enterprise September 6, 2012 |
