Get ready because the high-energy, super-talented Young Americans are back in Holyoke this weekend for their exciting 2012 International Music Outreach Tour.

The Young Americans company of 40 staff, singers and dancers will present a three-day workshop program full of music, dance and theater fun for area students in grades 4-12, concluding with a concert that wows the audience and touches the hearts of parents, teachers and the community.

Registration begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 at Holyoke High School. The workshop will continue from 3:30-8:30 p.m. on Sunday and from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1.

A dress rehearsal will be held from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 with a spectacular concert that night at 7 p.m. in the HHS auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Holyoke music teacher Marcia Dalton can accept registration forms/fees early, or kids can bring them on Sunday. Music Parents Association in Holyoke is covering some of the costs.

The college-age Young Americans performers will work with kids on the areas of voice; choral singing; dance; acting/improvisation; musical theatre; and performance, audition and sound techniques.

Schools continue to express amazement for the way these workshops lift spirits, build self esteem and encourage teamwork in their students. The Young Americans are proud to serve as role models for young kids all over the world as together they share the universal language of music.

Young Americans group has a rich history of performances spanning its 50 years of existence. They have performed for presidents and heads of state, won Academy Award (Oscar), been on national TV and appeared live before a worldwide audience of millions.

Many students and their families will remember the impact the energetic group had on Holyoke when they held a workshop in Holyoke schools in February 2010.

Since then, two area students—Jordan Brophy and Deann Sullivan from Wray—have joined the Young Americans and will be back now as tour teachers/performers.
