|Racetrack size being reduced|

Phillips County Raceway fans will see a significant change in the stock car racetrack this year, as the Holyoke Racing Group is nearing completion of converting the track from a half-mile to a 3/8 mile track. The west end of the track has been moved 330 feet to the east.
Crew members are pictured as they put in a guard rail for the pit, which will now be located west of the track itself instead of in the interior of the track. Rich Krier is running the tractor, with workers, pictured from left, Garrett Sporhase, Ivan Wiebke, Ryan Nealon and Colt Gibbs. Corey Koberstein also assisted Saturday afternoon. Numerous other volunteers have assisted with the project for a couple of months.
Raceway season at the local track will get under way Sunday, May 24 at 6 p.m.
