HHS teachers Dr. David Kagima and Tracy Trumper are sponsoring the Safari-Science Club as a way to expose students and community members to natural resource management on a local and global scale.

2007 HHS graduate Jes-c Brandt earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of her exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) Program exams.

The Holyoke Enterprise and the Haxtun-Fleming Herald sponsored a political debate at The Peerless Center Oct. 17 to give area residents an opportunity to hear from several candidates.

Members of the Holyoke City Council voted to delay final approval of a new open container law at their Oct. 15 meeting to allow the council to reconsider two points in the proposed ordinance.

Oct. 29, 1987

George Leibbrandt will soon be retiring after 33 years in the appliance repair business and will be turning George’s Appliance Repair over to his son, Jim, on Nov. 1.

Holyoke First United Methodist Church will celebrate 100 years of ministry Sunday, Nov. 1.

When the Holyoke Christian School opened for its fifth year on Aug. 24, another aspect of the school was started. The former Big Red’s restaurant located near the school was remodeled and opened as a day care, preschool and kindergarten.

Oct. 26, 1972

Willard Bolen will retire as town superintendent on Nov. 1, after 29 years of service to the Town of Holyoke.

The Holyoke Chamber of Commerce is considering the possibility of placing trees in planters throughout the business district. Right now the project is in the planning stage.

Classroom teachers from throughout this section of Colorado will attend a day-long Colorado Education Association “helpmobile” here Saturday, Nov. 4 to learn the latest teaching techniques and to improve their own teaching skills.

Oct. 25, 1962

The Wages community will hold dedication services Sunday evening for their newly completed education unit at the church.

Dallas E. Shafer, formerly of Holyoke, was recently called to serve as minister of the Julesburg Christian Church and began his pastoral duties there Sunday, Oct. 21.

Holyoke Shoe Repair has been sold by Norman Stewart to Lewis Hager, who assumed management and ownership of the business yesterday.
