It’s official, Holyoke’s name appears on the Class 1A high school football playoff bracket.

2008 was the last time Holyoke made post season play when they traveled to Hotchkiss and lost in the first round.

This year’s senior class has spent the last four years figuring out a way to taste post season action for themselves. It came down to a coaches decision Sunday afternoon at the league meeting and the Dragons were given the No. 12 seed.

With both Wray and Wiggins earning spots from the North Central Conference, Holyoke, which finished third in the tough league, earned a wildcard spot. The top two teams from each of the six leagues earn spots along with four wild cards.

Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Platte Canyon High School Saturday afternoon, Nov. 3.

Wray enters as the No. 4 seed while Wiggins earned No. 7. The top eight teams host this Saturday’s first round games where the winners will advance to quarterfinals Saturday, Nov. 10. The semifinal games are scheduled for Nov. 17 with the championship to be played Nov. 24.

This Saturday’s first round games are as follows:

Top half of the bracket: No. 1 Buena Vista (9-0) hosting No. 16 Lyons (6-3), No. 8 Burlington (6-3) hosting No. 9 Colorado Springs Christian (6-3), No. 4 Wray (8-1) hosting No. 13 Byers (5-4) and No. 5 Platte Canyon (9-0) hosting No. 12 Holyoke (4-5).

Bottom half of the bracket: No. 3 Cedaredge (8-1) hosting No. 14 Centauri (7-2), No. 6 Monte Vista (8-1) hosting No. 11 Crowley County (7-2), No. 7 Wiggins (8-1) hosting No. 10 Hotchkiss (7-2) and No. 2 Limon (9-0) hosting No. 15 Rye (6-3).
