Phillips County Players had the audience eating out of their hands in the hilarious and tasty “Someone Save My Baby, Ruth! Or... Foil That Villain!”
The melodrama, directed by Penny Dockins, was a sweet treat presented at the Peerless Theatre Sunday, Nov. 4.
Villain and villainess Sidney Swindle and Ada Sourball (Maury Kramer and Karen Swan) were dramatically brilliant as they tried to take over Praline Candy’s (Ashley Sullivan) Boston candy store.

Penny Candy and Officer Ernest Noble (Andrea McCallum and Eric Conklin) took drama to a whole new level, all while batting eye lashes, falling in love and catching the kidnapper of little Baby Ruth.
It is a sweet, sweet love story between Ernest Noble and Penny Candy, played by Eric Conklin and Andrea McCallum, who milk the melodrama for all it’s worth in “Someone Save My Baby, Ruth! Or... Foil That Villain!”
Hilarious Hubert and Tom (Jerry Brandt and Jacob Vasa) were always throwing kisses at candy shop girls Taffy and Toffee (Shanda Willmon and Kellee Salyers), while quarrelsome cooks Farron Heit and Cindy Grade (Bob Brandt and Brenda Brandt) were throwing a bit of fudge around to see whose was the best.
Jacob Vasa and Jerry Brandt add to the drama of last Sunday’s stage performace at the Peerless Theatre.
Other cast members keeping the audience involved with cheers, boos and awws were Dolly Smith, Dani Brandt, Anastasia Conklin, Shianne Willmon, Zander Salyers, Penny Dockins and piano player Marcia Dalton.
