Plans to enhance grain shuttle loading capacity on the Nebraska Kansas Colorado Railway (NKCR) line are moving forward.

Grainland Cooperative, a business unit of CHS Inc., announced Monday, Nov. 19 that construction details are being finalized, and it is anticipated the project could break ground as soon as next month.

“This project is a significant infrastructure investment to ensure our patrons have access to competitive bids well into the future,” said Grainland General Manager Rick Unrein.

“And it was among the key reasons we chose to partner with CHS for the long-term success of our producers. We are excited to get this project started,” Unrein added.

The 15-month project, which will improve input deliveries and grain shipments via expanded shuttle loading capacity, is expected to be operational by late spring 2014.

Grainland Cooperative provides agronomy, feed, grain and energy products from Colorado locations in Holyoke, Amherst, Fleming, Haxtun, Julesburg, New Haven and Stateline. It is part of CHS, a leading global agribusiness owned by farmers, ranchers and cooperatives across the United States.
