Lighting contest to be judged Dec. 10-13
The City of Holyoke and Holyoke Enterprise are sponsoring the community’s 21st annual holiday lighting contest, which will be judged Dec. 10-13.
To be included for judging, residents should simply have their lights on and/or decorations up at 6 p.m. each evening, Monday-Thursday, Dec. 10-13. Judges will be driving around town those evenings.
Any lighting display within Holyoke city limits or in a half-mile radius is eligible. Judging will be based on originality, decorative effect and overall effect.
Those who want to make sure the judges don’t miss them or a display they’ve admired should call the City office at 854-2266 or The Holyoke Enterprise at 854-2811 by Monday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.
Library Extravaganza is Sunday
Don’t miss this year’s Heginbotham Library Extravaganza Sunday, Dec. 9 from 2-4 p.m. where refreshments and homemade gift items are showcased at the beautifully decorated library.
Choir concert next Monday
Monday, Dec. 10 is set for the winter choir concert at 7 p.m. at the HHS auditorium. It will feature junior high, high school and Select choirs as well as some solos and other special treats, under the direction of Marcia Dalton.
The sirens in Holyoke sounded Wednesday evening, Nov. 28 at 5:20 p.m. Firefighters were called to assist other agencies in a search for a missing child. The child was found later in the evening.
