Nathan Rodriguez’s prickly pear cactus photo is featured on the December page of the 2013 Frenchman Valley Co-op calendar. Rodriguez earned the honor by placing second in the junior division of the cooperative’s photo contest.

The 12-year-old took a close-up photo of the prickly pear plant while traveling in Texas.

Rodriguez is the son of Domie and Minnie Rodriguez of Holyoke.
