HHS athletes honored for fall sports achievement PDF Print E-mail

HHS athletes in boys’ golf, softball, volleyball and football were recognized for their efforts during the 2012 fall sports season at the athletic awards program Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Additionally, Academic All-State honors awarded by Colorado High School Activities Association were announced by athletic director Sandra Rahe.

Kendra Schlachter was acknowledged for her sports trainer expertise and assistance to the whole athletic program.

Boys’ golf

Coach Garrett Gordon, assisted by Nic Balog and Stefan Betley, presented awards to the boys’ golf team.

Letterwinners for the season are seniors Deyten Klein and Keaton Arkulari; juniors Gage Garnas and Tanner Smith; and sophomore Kody Timm.

Participation award winners are senior Matt Golden; junior Wyatt Bishop; sophomores A.J. Brandt, Troy Brown, Kade Hiller, Nathan Miles and Devin Wilber; and freshmen Tristan Brown, Dakota Gibson, Xander Nelson and Scott Osborne.

Klein was a state qualifer and All-Conference golfer, Arkulari made All-Conference, and Garnas was a state alternate and All-Conference honorable mention.


Coaches Ashley Clayton and Kendra Schlachter presented softball awards for the season.

Letterwinners are seniors Elissa Baker, Vicki Jeffers, Camille Elliott and Chandler Gerk; junior Alyssa Killin; sophomores Leigha Terry, Taylor Goldenstein, Allison Boehm, Stefani Razo and Keeya Marquez; and freshmen Roni Beavers and Kaitlyn Lenhart.

Freshman Dani Brandt earned a participation award.

Gerk was recognized for earning All-Conference honors and for playing in the All-State game.


Coaches Michelle Vieselmeyer and Theresa Tharp presented awards to the HHS volleyball team, who made it to the regional level in the 2012 season.

Letterwinners are seniors Molly Brandt, Lindsay Helgoth, Erin Vieselmeyer and manager Rachel Schneider; juniors Tia Huffman, Ashley Humphreys, Maddie King and Jacinda Krueger; and sophomore Megan Vieselmeyer.

Participation award winners are senior Gaby Chavez; juniors Malena McWilliams, Audi Peña and Eva Penzing; sophomores Jentry Andersen, Anastasia Conklin; Kaylee Ham, Alex McCallum, Rosa Ochoa and Lynnette Stark; and freshmen Adilene Bencomo, Peyton Dittmer, Jaylene Dominguez, Lori McWilliams, Megan Parker, Kaely Zilla and manager Kanyon Moore.

Erin Vieselmeyer received All-Conference honors.


Coaches John Zilla, Dusty McConnell, Cutter Garrison, Merle Powell and Nic Balog presented football awards to the team that won a first-round playoff game and made it to the state quarterfinals.

All members of the 2012 Dragon team lettered, as they all saw action in the first-round playoff game.

Letterwinners are seniors Brett Cumming, Jesus Hermosillo, José Jaquez, Ben Martinez, Leo Ortiz, Astolfo Rojo, Alfredo Santos and Logan Zeiler; juniors Daniel Bencomo, Trevor Dalton, Andrew Kent, Ryan Krogmeier, Alan Madrid, Ryan Parker, Saul Ramos and Logan Tharp.

Sophomores Tito Fierro, T.J. Gertner, Dylan Kotch, Jesus Martinez, Nicholas Ortner, Wyatt Powell and Luke Stewart; and freshmen Bradley Cumming, Marques Harvey, Cody Lamm, Taylor Mayden, Eric Rojo and Sidney Struckmeyer.

Conference recognition found Brett Cumming named co-player of the year. All-Conference picks were Brett Cumming, Bradley Cumming, Hermosillo, Krogmeier and Tharp.

Honorable mention All-Conference recognition went to Kotch, Powell and Ramos.

Academic All-State

Junior and senior letterwinners earning Academic All-State honors were recognized.

Those with a GPA of 3.6 or higher and named to the first team are Molly Brandt, Brett Cumming, Trevor Dalton, Lindsay Helgoth, Ben Martinez, Rachel Schneider, Tanner Smith, Logan Tharp, Erin Vieselmeyer and Logan Zeiler.

Those with a GPA between 3.3-3.59, earning honorable mention honors, are Chandler Gerk, Ashley Humphreys, José Jaquez, Alyssa Killin, Ryan Krogmeier and Jacinda Krueger.

The HHS volleyball team was also recognized as an Academic All-State team.

All varsity team members who participate on the team for more than 75 percent of the season are figured in the team GPA. The team must have a 3.50 cumulative or higher to rank as an All-State team.

The HHS volleyball team had a 3.62 cumulative GPA. Team members include Molly Brandt, Lindsay Helgoth, Tia Huffman, Ashley Humphreys, Maddie King, Jacinda Krueger, Erin Vieselmeyer and Megan Vieselmeyer.
