|Grant to assist equine owners|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Colorado Humane Society and SPCA has received a grant from the Colorado Unwanted Horse Alliance to assist equine owners with end-of-life options.
In this new program, up to $200 will be provided to assist with either humane euthanasia or disposal of an equine.
Those who know of someone who needs this assistance should have them contact the humane society directly or have their veterinarian contact them to verify the need.
In each qualifying case, the humane society will directly pay the veterinarian or hauler who is providing the service.
The program will run until the funds of the grant are exhausted. However, depending on the need throughout the state and interaction with the people, the humane society will strive to continue the program.
This CUHA grant supports the provision of humane end-of-life options in an effort to help reduce cases of abandonment, abuse and neglect by connecting horse owners to resources they weren’t aware of or couldn’t afford.
