|Tomky named managing editor|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Dedicated Holyoke Enterprise employee Darci Tomky has accepted the role as managing editor as of Feb. 1.
In her four years as a full-time employee at the Enterprise, Tomky has continued to refine her skills and add to her weekly responsibilities.
Publisher Brenda Brandt is pleased to announce Tomky’s promotion and is confident in her ability to positively impact the paper and its image.
In her new role, Tomky will continue to handle advertising and commercial print job design, as well as page design for the weekly Enterprise. Her bylined stories and photography efforts will also continue on the pages of the paper, and she’ll continue to move the paper forward in its web and mobile app presence.
Tomky’s tremendous organizational skills and ability to look at the big picture in scheduling make her a solid choice for managing editor duties, according to Brandt.
She will coordinate the weekly story count for the paper, assigning stories to reporter Kyle Arnoldy and Brandt, as well as taking them on herself. She will continue to work with staff member Ashley Sullivan, who organizes job printing schedules for projects beyond the Enterprise itself.
Tomky’s ideas for new features and new projects have been valuable in the past four years and make this move to her new role even more appropriate.
A 2004 graduate of Holyoke High School, Tomky completed an internship at the Enterprise in the summer of 2007 prior to her May 2008 graduation from Hastings College. She earned a B.A. degree in media production with emphasis in advertising and public relations and also a B.A. in music/piano performance.
Tomky has won multiple awards in both the Colorado Press Association and National Newspaper Association contests.
Counting the CPA awards that will be presented at the end of this month, she has won 17 individual awards and been part of 11 other group awards in CPA and NNA contests the past four years.
She was named Employee of the Year at the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce Gala in 2010. She has been involved in the community as a team captain and publicity chair for Relay For Life, adult leader for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and music coordinator for Saturday evening service at First Baptist Church.
Tomky is the daughter of Darrell and Debbie Tomky of Holyoke.
