|‘Wholly’ moly! February is whole grains month|

Students at Holyoke Elementary School got a lesson in whole grains Tuesday, Feb. 19, with kitchen manager Maggie Busch explaining all the great nutritional benefits of whole grains and whole wheat. She said that was their focus for the month of February, while other months focus on foods like squash, citrus foods, legumes and berries.
Along with the lesson, kindergartners got to dig in and learn about the focus food by making whole grain bagel pizzas for their afternoon snack. Michel Vega Juarez, Vanessa Vega and Evan Vigil, pictured above, have fun assembling their mini pizzas. Pictured below, Fatima Castillo is excited for her healthy bagel snack, and Maggie Busch, at bottom, picks up the pizzas, ready to be popped in the oven.
