|Relay For Life set in Haxtun June 7-8; teams to register at health fairs|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
“Decades of Hope” is the theme for the 12th annual Phillips County Relay For Life event set for Friday-Saturday, June 7-8.
A big change for this year is that the Relay has moved to the Haxtun Baseball Field, where teams will camp out and walk the track to raise money for cancer research and awareness.
Relay For Life kickoff will be at the health fairs held this month. Teams can register Saturday, March 16 from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. at the health fair at Haxtun Community Center. Sign-up is also available at the Holyoke health fair Saturday, March 23 from 8 a.m.-noon at Phillips County Event Center.
Teams who have their forms completed by those dates will receive half off the registration fee.
The Relay committee is excited for this year’s theme, noting it should be fun for teams to dress and decorate their campsites with a specific decade in mind. Teams can sign up for a decade on a first come, first served basis.
Team meetings (for all team members) are planned for 6:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month, with the first on March 20 at the Haxtun Community Center. The next two meetings are set for April 17 in Holyoke at the Highline meeting room and May 13 at the Haxtun Community Center.
Bank Night will be Monday, June 3 in Holyoke at the Highline meeting room.
Anyone who would like to sign up a team or who has questions about volunteering or sponsorship for Relay should call event chair Abby Henry at 970-580-8980 or visit phillipscountyrelay.org.
