Young hunting enthusiasts attended the youth hunt put on by Phillips County Pheasants Forever and Colorado Parks and Wildlife Saturday, March 30 at Camp Machasay.
Those in attendance were treated to a variety of different stations where they were instructed on how to safely go about hunting. Pictured above, Tobin Moore takes aim at a target while at the archery station.
After a safety walk (shoot, don’t shoot), the kids went on a guided pheasant hunt. Pictured below, Kaitlyn Shafer practices gun safety. Kids were instructed on the proper way to raise and lower the barrel so that the muzzle is never pointing at something they did not want to destroy.
Natray Peregoy, pictured at bottom at left, and Marcus Mitteis show off the pheasants they shot during the hunt. After the hunt, the kids learned how to clean the birds.
