Brooke Parker of Holyoke is the recipient of a scholarship in the seventh annual Future Mental Health Professional Scholarship Program developed by Centennial Mental Health Center. The program is an effort to raise awareness of career opportunities in the behavioral health field to members of local communities and assist students in achieving their goals in the field.
Parker was a second runner up, receiving $1,500, for her repeat application and award. This freshman at Colorado Christian University is a 2012 HHS graduate and the daughter of Curt and Chandra Parker of Holyoke.
Individuals eligible to apply for this scholarship are graduates from high school or GED program by summer 2013; United States citizen or legal immigrant; resident of Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington or Yuma counties; and are intending to complete a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health related field (e.g. psychology, sociology, counseling, etc).
The winners were selected based on academic achievement, aptitude and community service from the submitted application, transcript(s), letters of recommendation and essay.
