Melissa Memorial Hospital’s annual health fair was held at the Phillips County Event Center Saturday, April 27. Although originally scheduled for March 23, blizzard conditions forced the event to be postponed. This year’s health fair marked the first time that the event occurred at the Event Center as opposed to HHS.
More than 100 people attended to take advantage of a number of booths and services provided to the community. Betty Hunter, pictured at right, is tested for peripheral vascular disease by Peggy Davis and Pat Notter.
Providers were present to discuss results from previously held blood draws. Dr. Dennis Jelden explains results to Cathy Sullivan, at left. Nearly three dozen people had their blood drawn Saturday as well.
Many of the booths handed out a number of free items. Mary Tomky gave away emergency identification cards that could assist first responders and medical staffs in emergency situations to identify specific needs of a patient.
