|Softball season begins May 23|

Summer softball in Holyoke is slated to spring into action Thursday, May 23 with a home match against Ogallala, Neb.
Holyoke has fielded a team for the 9-12-year-old division. The only towns with a team in the 13-16-year-old division are Chappell, Neb., Oshkosh, Neb., Ogallala and Sedgwick County.
Coaches for the summer season are Laura Gerk and Chandler Gerk. This will be Laura’s second year coaching summer softball in Holyoke. Both coaches were All-State players for HHS.
Laura graduated in 2012 and joined the softball team at Northeastern Junior College. Chandler graduated this year and has signed to suit up for Central Christian College in McPherson, Kan.

Games will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the exception of the last game of the regular season, which will be played on a Monday to allow an extra day before the tournament begins.
The league tournament will be played in Ovid Thursday-Saturday, June 27-29.
Sedgwick County will host games in both Julesburg and Ovid. Teams should look to the season schedule to distinguish where they will face Sedgwick County on the road.
Along with Thursday’s game, Holyoke will play Sedgwick County at Julesburg Tuesday, May 28; at Haxtun Thursday, May 30; at Chappell Tuesday, June 4; host Oshkosh Thursday, June 6; at Ogallala Tuesday, June 11; host Sedgwick County Thursday, June 13; host Haxtun Tuesday, June 18; host Chappell Thursday, June 20; and at Oshkosh Monday, June 24.
