|Former HHS Dragon celebrates Dragon week with Dragon brigade|

“Dragon” Brigade Soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kan. demonstrated the Warrior Ethos during a weeklong series of competitions designed to test their combat skills May 3-7.
Sgt. Cody Rauch of Holyoke, a sniper with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment was awarded a gold medal for his performance in the sniper stress shoot competition.
“I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade,” became the motto as soldiers with the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division competed in 20 Dragon Week events ranging from obstacle courses, foot marches, marksmanship and weight lifting, to combatives, boxing and track and field.
The overall winning battalion was the 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment “Rangers.” The Rangers won 14 individual events, scoring 113 points. In second place was the 701st Brigade Support Battalion with 88 points. The 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment took third with 69 points.
