Challengers 4-H Club
Challengers 4-H Club meeting was held at Phillips County Event Center in the Biesemeier Room Sunday, June 9. President Molly Brandt called the meeting to order. There were 24 members and 15 parents present.
Steve Starkebaum summarized changes in the livestock rules for the upcoming Phillips County Fair. A detailed handout was provided for members.
Lauren Herman read the minutes from the April meeting. Anna Jelden gave the treasurer’s report. Both reports were approved.
Several committee reports were given. Cow Patty Bingo tickets were due to the Rahe family. Brandt thanked members for another successful window sales fundraiser. The windows will be painted this week. The Rahes and Dilles have started planning for the fair booth. The float committee will be the Stewart, Wright and Porter families. Morganne Kumm will organize club thank you gifts this year.
New business included forming a donation committee to make recommendations for community donations and support for camps and leadership opportunities. The 2013 Challengers Scholarship was given to Brandt.
Nicholas Ortner gave a 4-H Council report, including plans for 4-H promotion activities at the Fair. Congratulations were given to Luke Stewart for being named Phillips County delegate to Washington Focus this summer and to Ortner for being elected to a state office as District 5 president.
The next meeting will be July 13 for the club tour. Fair cleanup is scheduled for July 20.
