The 9-12 Holyoke softball team entered the June 27-29 league tournament in Ovid with momentum on their side, as they had just previously picked up their first win of the season against Chappell, Neb. Unfortunately for the Holyoke squad, they were unable to secure another win and exited the tournament after two losses.

Holyoke had a tough outing in the first round, losing to Haxtun 15-5 Monday, June 27. The loss placed Holyoke in the consolation bracket.

The game for fifth place pitted Holyoke against the same Chappell team they had topped just a week prior. This time around, Holyoke was unable to get their bats going and lost the match 11-1.

The softball squad continually improved throughout the season. At points they had problems scoring runs but improved offensively as the season progressed. In the second-to-last game of the season Saturday, June 20, the team picked up their only win, beating Chappell 5-4 in a tightly fought match.
