|County accepts bid for parking facility|

Phillips County commissioners reported they accepted a bid from VAP Construction of Atwood, Kan., for the new parking and storage facility just east of the Phillips County Courthouse in the 200 block of South Campbell Avenue.
Out of five bids, the $68,154 bid was awarded to VAP Construction based on the quality of work and what the company had to offer Phillips County.
At their Friday, June 28 meeting, commissioners reported they approved the Great Outdoors Colorado contract for the new track for Holyoke School District.
The enhancement project at Phillips County Fairgrounds is also moving forward. Bids will be received July 19 for the project that includes an extension for the bike path around the north side of the fairgrounds and a water feature on the south side of Homesteaders Park.
Commissioners continue to work on a junk and weed regulation for the county.
Dixie Ishee was approved by commissioners for the for deputy coroner position.
New employees for Phillips County include Brad Haakey and Walter Juarez, District 1 road workers; Deanna Jarret, part-time landfill secretary; Lance Williams, full-time comm center dispatcher; and Audree Edwards, case worker I at Phillips County Social Services.
