Holyoke will be hosting a two-team State Babe Ruth Baseball tournament for ages 16-18 Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21.
Word was just received last week that the Border League All-Stars would be competing in the tournament and that Holyoke would host it.
The other tournament team is from Limon.
Tournament director Tom Bennett said the winner of the tournament will qualify for regionals in Iowa.
Two games are scheduled Saturday, July 20 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. If one team wins both games, the tournament is over. If the teams split in Saturday play, a game will be played Sunday, July 21 at 10 a.m. to determine the state champion.
The Border League team includes players that have competed in Colorado games, as well as games in Nebraska as the Bombers team.
Coaches for the Border League All-Stars will be Marcus Kammer of Holyoke and Trenton Ham of Haxtun.
The Border League tournament team is still being finalized and will be announced in next week’s Enterprise.
