Flashy fireworks, record-breaking races highlight the 4th PDF Print E-mail

Four families of Spragues kicked off the Fourth of July racing program at Phillips County Raceway by singing “God Bless the USA.” The Spragues are pictured from left, front row, Raia, Lia, Luke, Reid, Emma Marie and Mason; and back row, Gage, Miles, Janell, Aly, Blake, Alec and Wyatt.

Aly and Blake are the children of Jeff and Casey Sprague, Janell is the daughter of Sheila Sprague, and Alec, Gage, Luke, Emma Marie and Mason are the children of Alan and Emma Sprague, and these three Sprague families are all cousins. They were joined by the children of Aaron and Amber Sprague including Miles, Wyatt, Reid, Lia and Raia.

Bringing a full day of Fourth of July racing fun to Holyoke are pictured from left, BST promoter Joe Bellm, NASCAR star Kenny Schrader and S&W Auto NAPA store owner Kameron Knight. Schrader held a meet and greet at the S&W store at lunchtime, where Knight served a hot dog lunch. Races began at Phillips County Raceway at 5 p.m. Schrader not only competed in the races but also signed autographs and was available for photo sessions during intermission.

The City of Holyoke and Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department trumped up a big fireworks show to the delight of many local residents and visitors on the Fourth of July.

Twenty-four cars, four-abreast and six-deep, paraded in front of the grandstands at the Phillips County Raceway to lead into the final race of the night on the Fourth of July. With one Colorado flag and 23 American flags flying from the car windows, the parade made a grand statement. Pictured second from left is Kenny Schrader, NASCAR star.
