51st state info meetings Thursday
Phillips County commissioners will be explaining recent 51st state proposals, including an alternative to current state representation, at informational meetings Thursday, July 18. Community members are urged to attend in Haxtun at 6 p.m. at the Haxtun Community Center and in Holyoke at 8 p.m. at SunSet View.
Museum to host pie social this Sunday
Phillips County Museum is hosting a pie and ice cream social this Sunday, July 21 beginning at 1 p.m. at the museum in Holyoke. Abbey Christman will give a presentation, “Building Holyoke: 125 Years of History as Seen Through its Architecture.”
Through the Center of Preservation and Research at University of Colorado Denver, Christman led a survey team to document buildings in the towns of Haxtun and Holyoke. She has also put together a walking tour of Holyoke. Pie and ice cream will be available after her presentation.
Outdoor movie night at library set for Friday
Heginbotham Library board and Friends of the Library are hosting a free old-fashioned movie night at the library lawn Friday, July 19. “Swiss Family Robinson” will start at 7:30 p.m. with snow cones, popcorn and lemonade available for concessions.
Bike and Build in need of food
The Bike and Build group will be passing through Holyoke this Thursday evening, July 18. Any community members wishing to support the group can bring potluck food items to the Phillips County Event Center at 6 p.m. They are also encouraged to stay and get to know the bikers. Blood drive is Wednesday
