Fair week full of activities

It’s an action-packed week of fun at the Phillips County Fair July 24-28 in Holyoke. Full schedules and opportunities can be seen on the websites for Phillips County Fair and BST Racing.

Friday, July 26 will see mud volleyball at 9 a.m.; youth soccer, 2 p.m.; barbecue, 5 p.m.; bingo, 6 p.m.; family farm olympics, 6 p.m.; ATV rodeo, 8 p.m.; and an evening dance.

Saturday, July 27 will feature the parade at 10 a.m.; Orphan Grain Train dinner, 11 a.m.; pet show, 11 a.m.; cow patty bingo, 12:30 p.m.; salsa contest, 1 p.m.; toy show, 1 p.m.; catch-it-rabbit, 2 p.m.; junior livestock sale, 2:30 p.m.; stock car racing, 7 p.m.; and an evening dance.

Sunday’s fair activities will begin with the community church service at 9 a.m.; round robin showmanship, 10:30 a.m.; and Mexican rodeo, noon.

 

Leeper Drill Team reunion set for fair

There is a reunion planned for the former members and their spouses of Dorothy Leeper’s 4-H Drill Team. It will be held Saturday, July 27, beginning with a float in the Phillips County Fair parade. HVFD responds to 3 sirens

Three sirens rang out for assistance from the fire department over the past week.

Wednesday, July 17 at 9:05 p.m., the sirens were sounded for a single-vehicle rollover accident on Phillips County Road 32 near Phillips County Road 35. No extrication was needed.

Thursday, July 18 HVFD assisted EMS at the intersection of Kellogg Street and Interocean Avenue as there was a car and motorcycle collision. No extrication was needed.

Sunday, July 21 at approximately 6:50 a.m. there was a single-vehicle rollover accident on Phillips County Road 31 near Phillips County Road 34. No extrication was needed.
