|Pie social a tour through county history|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Sunday’s presentation at Phillips County Museum took people on a tour down Phillips County’s historic streets to explore the architecture that defines many of the towns’ residential and commercial buildings. Abbey Christman and Joe Coleman from the Center of Preservation Research, College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado Denver presented their findings from an architectural survey of Holyoke, Haxtun and Paoli last summer. Their survey report will be done in the next couple of months, and a draft was presented for a walking tour in Holyoke and Haxtun’s historic districts.
Virginia Mostenteen, pictured at left, speaks with Coleman and Christman after their interesting slide show reviewing the various types of houses and buildings and how their architecture reflects the periods they were built. The July 21 event, hosted by Phillips County Historical Society, was capped off with some tasty treats at the annual pie and ice cream social. —Enterprise photo
