Vieselmeyer’s hog is Grand Champ PDF Print E-mail
Written by Brenda Johnson Brandt

HHS sophomore Austin Vieselmeyer claimed Grand Champion Market Hog honors with his hog, Wulfy, at the 2013 Colorado State Fair.

Additionally, he won champion senior swine showman honors in the statewide event.

Vieselmeyer’s black crossbred grand champ brought $28,000 when purchased by Anadarko Petroleum Company at the junior livestock sale.

This is Vieselmeyer’s seventh year in 4-H and his sixth year with market hogs.

For six consecutive years, he and his younger brother Alex have purchased show pigs from Matt and Greg Wolfe in Indianola, Neb.

They check out the animals a couple of weeks before sale time to decide which hogs they’re interested in.

Wulfy is the fourth consecutive generation that Vieselmeyer has shown from one sow family that started with Girly. His sire’s name is Wolfe Bones.
