|Kurtis Huss to be remembered at annual HHS golf tournament|
|Written by Kyle Arnoldy|
In honor of Kurtis Huss, a member of the inaugural golf team at Holyoke High School in 2002, HHS will host an annual Kurtis Huss Memorial boys’ golf tournament.
Kurtis died last month after succumbing to testicular cancer. He was just 25 years old.
Golf had always been a part of Kurtis’s life. Gary, his father, has worked at the Holyoke Golf Course as a manager for roughly 30 years and Joyce, his mother, has worked in the club house for more than a decade. Gary and Joyce also played a role in HHS finally starting a golf team, showing their support at school board meetings.
“I think he would have felt very honored. He loved golf,” Gary said of his late son.
Both Gary and Joyce said they were happy with the tournament being dedicated to their son, but called the occasion bittersweet.
