Based on 2013 state testing, Holyoke School District achieved accreditation from the Colorado Department of Education.

Superintendent Bret Miles reported on the accreditation status at the Sept. 17 school board meeting.

As a district, Re-1J achieved 67.2 percent. This is the second-highest rating for the district in four years. In 2011, a 69.2 percent was achieved.

With the accredited status covering 64-79.9 percent, the district actually fell slightly below that in both 2012 and 2010. The status for those two years was “accredited with an improvement plan.”

The school district had a 63 percent performance in 2010 and a 62.2 percent in 2012. An increase of five percentage points was seen from a year ago to put the district into the accredited category. Miles said he’s pleased to see that rating back up.

Miles highlighted that the elementary score, JR/SR high score and district score all fell in the green zone this year, according to the DOE. Last year, only the district score fell in the yellow zone. Both the elementary school and JR/SR high were accredited with performance plans this year.
