Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) Executive Director Reggie Bicha announced Monday, Sept. 30 a significant step forward in Colorado’s Child Welfare Plan “Keeping Kids Safe and Families Healthy 2.0.”
CDHS has chosen 15 counties and two American Indian tribes in mostly rural parts of the state as its inaugural SafeCare Colorado programs. The goal is to help 600 families in the first year.
SafeCare is an evidence-based behavioral parent training program for families with children ages 0-5 years who are at risk of becoming part of the child protection system. The home visitation program teaches skills that address home safety, parenting and children’s health needs.
