|WIC program stable despite U.S. government shutdown|

Despite the fact that the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, also known as WIC, is among the programs impacted by the Oct. 1 federal government shutdown, the Colorado WIC office is confident that its programs, including the one at the Northeast Colorado Health Department, can be sustained through the month of October.
However, unless the federal government resumes operations or some other remedy is in place, that could change come November.
At this time, NCHD is still able to issue October checks, but November and any other future months’ checks will be issued at a later date once the shutdown is over.
