|Homesteaders Park receives Starburst Award|

Phillips County recently received recognition as a 2013 Colorado Lottery Starburst Award winner for the Homesteaders Park playground, turf field and disc golf course.
The county was one of 15 recipients of the award, which recognizes excellence in the use of lottery funds for community and conservation projects across the state of Colorado. Starburst nominations are reviewed, and winning projects are chosen based on the creativity of the project, economic and social impact to the community and whether the project achieved its goal.
“We think it’s a great addition to the fairgrounds,” said Phillips County administrator Randy Schafer. The new additions to Homesteaders Park at Phillips County Fairgrounds have been widely used in the past year, he added, and it certainly adds to the appeal of people using the Phillips County Event Center for various events.
