Holyoke livens up Halloween night PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Halloween time is rapidly approaching as pumpkins are transforming into jack-o-lanterns and bags of candy are flying off shelves.

After a night of trick-or-treating on Halloween, activities are available to please children of all ages.

Beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, the Holyoke Lions Club will put on its annual costume party/contest at the Holyoke JR/SR High old gym.

Children in fifth grade and younger are encouraged to attend the event. There will be cash prizes for the top three costumes in each age division, and all participants will receive a bag of candy and a 50-cent piece.

For questions regarding the costume party/contest, contact Darrell Lemmon at 970-580-8303.

For junior high and high school students, a night of fun at Camp Machasay is planned.

Put on by Youth Challenge, the night will get started at 6:30 p.m. and will include good food, a campfire with s’mores and mission impossible, a game similar to capture the flag. As the temperature will drop when the sun goes down, those who plan to attend are reminded to take appropriate clothing.

All junior high and high school students are invited to participate. Holyoke Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting in front of the Peerless Theatre at 6 p.m. to carpool to Camp Machasay.

For more information about the Youth Challenge Halloween event, call Rick Cleaver or Mike Frazier at 970-854-3863.
