With seeding for the regional tournament on the line, the Lady Dragons volleyball team traveled to Yuma to face the Lady Indians and the Akron Lady Rams Friday, Oct. 25.
Holyoke was unable to put together an upset as the Lady Dragons dropped both matches. With the losses, HHS earned the third seed in the Region F tournament with Yuma and Lyons. Yuma captured the top seed and Lyons earned the second seed.
Before the opening serve of the first set with Yuma, HHS suffered a setback as Jentry Andersen had to be taken to the emergency room due to illness. Although Andersen had to spend the night at the Yuma District Hospital, she has been cleared to go Friday night for regional tournament play.
Holyoke, who has had troubles with Yuma this season, came out strong in the opening set. The two teams exchanged points until late in the match when the hard-hitting Yuma team pulled away.
As the first set played out, coach Vieselmeyer said the team had troubles adjusting to the last-minute lineup change and backed off of the attack. Yuma took advantage of free balls sent over the net as they overpowered HHS for the 25-18 Lady Indian victory in the first set.
