East Phillips County Hospital District Board announces that Dr. Danielle McClellan, M.D., will be joining the clinic staff in July 2009.

Emily O’Neal, 12-year-old daughter of Rupert and Claire O’Neal of Holyoke, has been chosen to dance the role of Angel in Colorado Ballet’s 2008 production of “The Nutcracker.”

Dr. Thomas McIntosh has been hired as a full-time doctor for the East Phillips County Hospital District. He began seeing patients on Nov. 24.

Rusty Triplette of Holyoke, district sales manager for Trisler Seed Farms, was recognized for having the largest increase in sales nationally in his first year of marketing the Trisler line of hybrid corn.

Twenty-Five Years Ago
Dec. 8, 1988

Doug and Laura Schelling of McCook, Neb., will join the Holyoke business community next week when they purchase the local Jack and Jill store from Neal and Carol Holmes.

The Phillips County commissioners noted that the old ASCS office building at 246 S. Interocean Ave. has been rented to Claire O’Neal for her accounting business. Extensive remodeling is being done by the county crew, with completion plans scheduled for Dec. 15.

The Region One translator system is in the process of adding Channel 7, which is CBS out of Denver. It is anticipated that rural homes of the area will be able to get the station in the near future.

Dec. 6, 1973

Last Friday at 11:40 p.m., two wheat cars of a Burlington train were derailed about a mile west of Holyoke, possibly due to a broken rail.

Doug Denney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Denney of Holyoke, is one of 13 students who expect to participate in Northeastern Junior College’s travel studies in Greece Dec. 6-22.

Mark and Marlynn Evans will present a magic show Dec. 19 in the high school gym.

Fifty Years Ago

Dec. 5, 1963

Phillips County Judge Walter O. Lutze has been named administrator of Sheridan Manor, the nursing home now under construction in Holyoke. Lutze tendered his resignation as county judge to the county commissioners on Dec. 2 but will continue to serve at least until the first of the year.

A large barn at the Ervin Heermann farm 8.5 miles east of Holyoke and a shed near the slaughter house at the west edge of town were destroyed by fire this week. Both buildings caught fire from burning tumbleweeds.

Dedication services at the new Community Church in Venango, Neb., will be held Sunday, Dec. 8. The new building is located on the town’s main street.
