|MMH implements changes to financial, nursing procedures|

Organizational changes are in store for Melissa Memorial Hospital. They aim to integrate all areas of the district to minimize confusion amongst patients and to increase the efficiency in which care is provided.
Changes were discussed at the Tuesday, Nov. 26 East Phillips County Hospital District meeting.
MMH administrator John Ayoub noted that billing can be confusing to patients as bills currently are sent out separately for ambulance, hospital and family practice services. The goal is to make billing for all services sent out from the same entity as the services are all part of the district. All services will be billed through MMH.
“We’re taking steps—it’s not something that is going to happen next month, but by the end of next year I expect that if you come here, no matter where you go or what service you get, you will get one bill. It will say what we did for you at the ambulance, the clinic and the hospital so it is more convenient and less confusing for patients,” Ayoub said.
As uncertainty surrounds changes being made in the insurance industry, Ayoub noted that MMH wants to be as proactive as possible to aid the community.
