Holyoke cheerleaders capped off the first season as an official sport at HHS with a fourth-place finish at the 2A State Spirit cheer competition Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Denver Coliseum.
Coach Jane Zink mentioned that HHS was one of the smallest teams there, but all that mattered was what the girls from Holyoke did on the mat. With just five girls cheering, Zink said the girls put together their best performance of the year.
“They did very well,” Zink said. “They hit all of their stunts and they were very sharp. It was exciting.”
Out of 22 cheer squads, HHS was one of just four teams to be called back for finals. Zink said the team’s performance in finals was even better than earlier in the day.
