4-H livestock projects lead to animal science careers
4-H members who are enrolled in a livestock project are busy preparing for another successful year. While some livestock members may not be interested in pursuing a career in the livestock or animal science industry, many others are gaining valuable experiences and knowledge, which will help them immensely as they choose their career path in the animal science field.
4-H teaches many life skills to its members, and there is also a strong possibility of turning 4-H-related experiences into stepping stones toward a life-long career.
Careers in the animal science field are available worldwide. Many individuals are needed to continually advance the industry. 4-H encourages all members who are involved in a livestock project to consider the opportunities in the animal science field.
There are various types of animal science careers. Typically, these careers can be grouped into four major areas: production management, agribusiness, Extension and government agencies, and research and teaching.
