It has been a busy and exciting past couple of years for Vanessa (Timm) Tharp. Since graduating from college in 2010, Tharp has steadily worked at a few salons, and in June she moved back to Colorado and got married. Now she is all set for the next step in her journey as she prepares for the opening of her new shop, Serenity Salon & Spa.
Along with haircuts and styling by Tharp, the shop will also offer spray tans and massage therapy by Kayla Knight and nail technician services twice a month as Brenda Jay will travel to Holyoke from Wray. With room available for a few more stylists, once business picks up, Tharp is hoping to bring in more people to fill more chairs.
Vanessa Tharp has been busy preparing her new business,
“I just want to provide an environment where people can come in and feel welcome and get their hair done by a good group of people that work here,” Tharp said.
A grand opening is planned for Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the recently renovated salon located on the west end of town at 210 S. Sheridan Ave. Refreshments will be made available.
Drawings for a haircut, a spray tan, full sets of acrylic nails and a massage will also highlight the opening day at Serenity Salon & Spa.
“Obviously it is a little scary starting my own place, but I know I want to do this for the rest of my life,” Tharp said.
