USDA Colorado Farm Service Agency state executive director Leland Swenson urges producers who want to purchase coverage through the Noninsurable Crop Disaster Assistance Program to do so by March 17.
NAP provides financial assistance to producers of noninsurable crops when low yields, loss of inventory or prevented planting occur due to natural disasters.
“Purchasing a crop insurance policy is an easy way for producers to participate in risk management,” said Swenson. “The impact of the recent flood and multiple years of drought have proved that natural disasters can directly affect the profitability and recovery of agricultural operations,” he said.
