|Dragons place second at District 2 tournament|

For the third time this season, Holyoke was unable to top the accurate-shooting of the Akron Rams, losing in the District 2 championship game Saturday, March 1 in Sterling.
Dragon basketball players could not have asked for a better start to the game, knocking down five shots from beyond the arc in the first quarter alone. Logan Tharp was the go-to scorer, hitting three 3-pointers en route to a 13 point quarter.
The third-ranked Holyoke team finished the first period with a 21-12 lead over the No. 1 Akron squad.
“The kids were really ready to go and focused,” coach Scott Dille said.
Once Tharp picked up his second foul late in the first quarter and Akron switched from a zone defense to man-to-man, the Dragon offense went cold. With Tharp on the bench, the Rams quickly dismantled the Holyoke lead.
During a three-minute stretch in the second quarter, Akron outscored Holyoke 13-0 to take the lead. HHS did not lead for the rest of the match.
Dille stated that he believed the team’s mentality was the biggest obstacle they faced in the game.
